Abstract:

This dissertation presents a systematic experimental study on the effective thermal conductivity of liquid dispersion systems (nanofluids and microemulsions) aimed at elucidating heat transfer mechanisms. The author conducts an in-depth analysis of the effects of particle volume fraction, temperature, Brownian motion, particle morphology, and Kapitza resistance. A guarded parallel-plate instrument (GPPI) was successfully fabricated to accurately measure absolute thermal conductivity. Additionally, the author proposes a new predictive model based on the geometric mean, facilitating improved heat transfer calculations in industrial applications.
