Java Programming with CORBA: Advanced Techniques for Building Distributed Applications is an in-depth resource on developing distributed applications using Java and CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) technology. The book presents how to build systems based on the distributed object model, where software components can communicate with each other over a network and operate independently across multiple platforms. The book introduces the CORBA architecture, Object Request Broker (ORB), Interface Definition Language (IDL), Java-CORBA mapping, and distributed object design techniques. It delves into advanced topics such as Portable Object Adapters (POA), RMI over IIOP, Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB), naming services, object management, security, interoperability, and performance optimization. Through practical examples, the book guides programmers in building scalable enterprise applications that operate in network environments and integrate across different systems. This is an important reference document on middleware technology and distributed systems during the period of rapid development of Java/CORBA.
