The thesis explores how individual, industry, and social factors shape the career intentions of final-year students in Tourism and Hospitality at a public university in Hanoi. Grounded in the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), the study proposes the Negotiated Intention Model (NIM) to explain how students negotiate personal aspirations, family expectations, perceptions of the industry, and internship experiences when making career decisions. Using a qualitative single-case study design with semi-structured interviews, the research reveals that career intentions are dynamic and conditional rather than fixed. The findings contribute to the literature on career intention and offer practical implications for educational institutions, employers, and policymakers seeking to strengthen workforce retention in Vietnam’s tourism and hospitality industry.
