Abstract:

The book explores how early medieval Europeans (700–1000) read and understood the natural world through the Physiologus manuscript. It analyzes the relationship between language, Latin texts, and nature, emphasizing the role of symbolism and metaphor. The work shows how the Physiologus shaped the post-Roman worldview of humanity’s place within Creation.
