Abstract:
The Video Textbook of General Chemistry (Farmer) blends video-based learning with core general chemistry topics. It covers measurement and units, significant figures, atoms, isotopes, the mole concept, nomenclature, and molecular formula calculations. Reactions, balancing equations, limiting reagents, and net ionic equations are explored, alongside gas laws, thermochemistry, and quantum foundations including electromagnetic radiation and quantum numbers. The text also delves into periodicity and electron configuration, molecular structure Lewis structures, hybridization, bonding and phase behavior & intermolecular forces. Later themes address chemical kinetics, electrochemistry, Gibbs free energy, buffer systems, titrations, solubility products, and properties of solutions. With video modules accompanying many chapters, the resource supports varied learning styles and promotes conceptual understanding through visual and interactive content.
