Translation 1 is a translation practice textbook compiled by the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Hanoi University of Industry. The book provides basic knowledge and practical skills in English Vietnamese translation and consists of two chapters. Chapter 1 focuses on sentence translation, helping students practise choosing appropriate words, arranging words logically, and producing translations that follow natural English and Vietnamese usage. Chapter 2 introduces fundamental concepts of translation, including word meaning selection and important factors to consider during the translation process. The subsequent lessons follow a consistent structure comprising vocabulary, sentence translation, language knowledge, and paragraph translation. Through systematic exercises, the book helps learners gradually develop their translation skills from simple sentences to paragraphs and improve their ability to produce clear, logical, and appropriate translations. The book can be used both as a coursebook and as a self study material.
