Abstract:

The book offers a rare scholarly perspective on the topic of slavery within the historical context of Nepal, a subject that has been largely underexplored in previous research. It compiles and analyzes legal documents and records from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century, providing readers with direct access to primary sources related to donation, trade, forced labor, and the emancipation of slaves. Through a systematic and rigorous editorial approach, the work not only broadens the understanding of premodern Nepalese society but also opens new directions for researchers in the fields of historical data studies and digital humanities.
