This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of video blogging platforms in developing English speaking skills among non-English major students at Hanoi University of Industry. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, incorporating pre- and post-test assessments, surveys, and interviews with 100 first-year students across four classes during the 2023-2024 academic year. The results indicated that while students showed modest improvement in speaking proficiency, they demonstrated high levels of engagement and positive attitudes toward using video blogging as a learning tool. The study also highlighted students' preferences for technological integration in language learning, which provides valuable insights for language instructors and educational administrators in developing technology-enhanced teaching methods. Furthermore, the research identified both opportunities and challenges in implementing video blogging for speaking skill development. While students appreciated the flexibility and interactive nature of video blogging platforms, they faced various obstacles such as technical issues, time management, and initial speaking anxiety. These findings aim to assist language educators and institutions in developing effective strategies for integrating digital tools into EFL speaking instruction, particularly for non-English major students in the Vietnamese higher education context.
