Cuốn sách này nhằm mục đích làm nổi bật tiềm năng kép của các quá trình xúc tác sinh học mới, trong đó phần đầu tiên dành riêng cho việc bình ổn chất thải để sản xuất các sản phẩm có giá trị cao, trong khi phần thứ hai tập trung vào việc giải độc các chất ô nhiễm. Một số ví dụ về hệ thống vi sinh vật được sử dụng để bình ổn hóa dòng chất thải có nguồn gốc từ các ngành công nghiệp lâm nghiệp, nông nghiệp và thực phẩm hoặc sử dụng các phương pháp tiếp cận toàn bộ tế bào hoặc enzyme để loại bỏ nitơ hoặc thuốc nhuộm khỏi nước thải công nghiệp được cung cấp. Abstract:

This book aims to highlight the dual potential of novel biocatalytic processes, where the first part is dedicated to waste valorization for the production of high value products, while the second part is focused on the detoxification of pollutants. Several examples of microbial systems employed for the valorization of waste streams derived by the forest, agricultural, and food industries or the use of whole-cell or enzyme approaches for the removal of nitrogen or dyes from industrial wastewaters are provided. Last but not least, an example of the utilization of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) was highlighted for the production of fatty acids, which were used for the enzymatic synthesis of sugar esters with antimicrobial properties.
